Obituary

Lynn D. Saski

A Legacy of Faith, Service, and Family

April 18, 1941 – October 21, 2026

Lynn D. Saski, 85, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, passed away on October 21, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, laughter, and service. Born on April 18, 1941, in Houston, Texas, Lynn lived a life devoted to God, his country, and his family.

A proud United States Marine and Vietnam veteran, Lynn honorably served his country for 20 years before continuing his dedication to the Marine Corps as a civilian for another 20 years. His 40 years of service reflected his strong work ethic, commitment, and pride in being a Marine.

Above all, Lynn was a devoted man of God. As a faithful member of Tar Landing Baptist Church, he previously served as a deacon and taught Senior Sunday School. He had a passion for sharing God's Word, encouraging others to accept Jesus Christ, and lifting people up in prayer. His faith was not simply something he spoke about; it was something he lived every day.

Affectionately known as "Gigi" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lynn was loved for his wonderful sense of humor, playful spirit, wisdom, and devotion to his family. He always had a joke to share, advice to give, and love to offer. One of his family's most cherished traditions was gathering every Christmas to hear Gigi read Scripture and lead everyone in prayer before opening gifts, a lasting reminder that he always placed God first.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie and Lucille Saski; his brothers, Larry and Johnny Saski; and his late wife, Mineko Saski.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Kimiko Saski; his children, Dale and Dave Atwell, Shirley Saski, and Todd and Lori Saski; his stepchildren, Janet and David Grooms, and Cynthia and Keith Waters; his grandchildren, Robert Atwell, Lisa and Daute Evans, Hope and Michael Hundley, and Autumn Saski; his step-grandchildren, Connor Grooms, Thomas Clifton, Shelby Prince, Craig Prince, Savannah Waters, and Jonathan Waters; his great-grandchildren, Alicea Burnett, Alaya Burnett, Kaiden Evans, and Daniel Evans; and his step-great-grandchildren, Daylynn Prince and Cole Prince.

Though his earthly journey has ended, the faith he shared, the love he gave, and the laughter he brought into the lives of others will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)
