Noyes Perkins, Usmc Retired

JACKSONVILLE - Maj. William Noyes Perkins, USMC retired, 94, of Jacksonville passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 25, 2025. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel with Pastor Damon Williamson officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
William was born in Stonington (Mystic), CT to the late Frank Noyes Perkins and Minnie Marie Goehlert Perkins. He was the youngest and last surviving of 7 children. He grew up on his family's dairy farm (The Perkins Farm) in Mystic, CT and graduated from Stonington High School in 1948, where he met Barbara Jane Stinson. They began dating, fell in love and stayed together for the next 80 years. They were married for the last 75 of those years. Shortly after graduating, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served honorably for 28 years. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired in 1977.
After retirement, he and Barbara traveled the country in their motorhome for several years visiting all but 4 states. While traveling they met many good friends and made great memories. They were active members of Briarcliffe RV Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC where they resided for 26 years before moving back to Jacksonville, NC to be closer to family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Franklin Perkins, Robert Perkins, Chester Perkins, Helen Perkins Wheeler, Henry Perkins and Charles Perkins; and his granddaughter, Shannon Michelle Buck Maxwell.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara J. Perkins of the home; his children, William N. Perkins, Jr. of Wilmington, NC, Linda Perkins Holtsford (Ron) of Jacksonville, NC, Sandra Perkins Buck (Robert) of Jacksonville, NC, Daniel J. Perkins (Lori) of Pensacola, FL and Frank N. Perkins (Lyle) of Mount Pleasant, SC; his grandchildren, Rob Perkins (Jennifer), Tiffany Buck Flores (Steven), Stephen Myslinski, Jr. (Shanon Civils), Chris Perkins (Jennifer), David Perkins, Daniel Perkins (Giovina), Dana Myslinski Lovitt (Shawn), Ashley Holtsford Jewell (Tim), Jennifer Holtsford Thomas (Dustin), Ryan Perkins, Davis Perkins (Danielle), Taylor Perkins, Harrison Perkins, Sean Perkins, Brendan Perkins, Cecilia Perkins, and Reagan Perkins; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank his Liberty Hospice Care nurse, Allie Hartwig and CNA, Kai'yanni Howard for their kind and compassionate care over the past 6 months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital .
