MAPLE HILL  -  Marie Hollis Padgett, 89, of Maple Hill, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Pineland Presbyterian Church with Pastors David Love, Preston Wells, and Keith Cobb officiating.  Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.

Mrs. Padgett was born in Onslow County on January 9, 1935, to the late Elmon Hollis and Hettie Lanier Hollis. She was married to the late Wesley C. Padgett for 64 years.  They had four children, Gary, Mike, Mark, and Myra. She was a loving mother, sister, and an adoring grandmother. She owned Silver Lake Beauty Salon in Wilmington, NC since 1976 where she worked until her retirement in 2000.  She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her family, and was a faithful member of Pineland Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by her sons, Gary Padgett, Mike Padgett, and Mark Padgett; grandson Bryan Maready; sister, Elva Lou Groves, and brothers, EJ Hollis, and Durwood Hollis.

She is survived by her daughter, Myra Phillips (Jimmy); sister, Vernice Mathis, and brother Eddie Earl Hollis (Linda); daughters-in law, Glenda Padgett and Debbie Padgett; grandchildren, Gina, Michael, Emily, Christopher, Kameron, and Dean; great-grandchildren, John, Ashton, Wes, Brailey, Harper, Ben, and Gage, as well as several brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews.

Her family is so thankful for the love and care Marie received during her time at Premier Nursing and Rehab and for the love and prayers received during this time.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.
