Hubert- Marjorie Ann Clapp Phelps, 94, passed away and joined her husband Richard "Dick" Phelps in Heaven Wednesday, August 13,2025. Dick preceded her when he passed away four days after their sixtieth wedding anniversary on July 12, 2010. She was born September 5, 1930 in Ovid, MI a daughter of the late Wilfred Franklin and Dorothy Wheeler Clapp.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 1:00pm at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro with Rev. Jim Pearson officiating. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Marjorie proudly endured the hardships of being a military spouse. She was in all ways the Matriarch of the Phelps family. She saw to it that her children were fed, clothed, and got to their Scout meetings and athletic events. Combining her income as a seamstress in two garment factories and the meager Military income, her and Dick put all three children through college.

She is survived by her oldest son, Daniel Phelps of Tallahassee, FL and his daughters, Margaret and Abigail. Her daughter, Ann Phelps Redding of Fayetteville, NC and her daughters, Tabitha Redding (Zev) of Fayetteville, NC and Crystal Redding (Chris) of Garner, NC. Her youngest child Richard Phelps (Janet) of Hubert, NC. In addition, Marjorie has seven great grandchildren: Aubrey, Donald, Sean, Asher, Quinten, James, and Sarah. She also has two great-great grandchildren, Elena and Isabella.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn and brothers, Stanley and Donald.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a military charity such as Disabled American Veterans.
