Swansboro-Mary Jeanette Powell, 72, passed away at her home on November 3,2025. She was born February 23,1953, in Swansboro, NC a daughter of the late Eli and Nettie Odum Burns.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

She was an inspector in the garment factory and loved to spend time in her yard, and helping her son build gill nets.

She is survived by her sons, David Powell (Jeani) of Hubert and Chris Powell of Maysville; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Martin Powell; son, Edward Martin Powell; and siblings, Mary Catherine, John, Grant, Jerry, and William Burns, and Georgie May Belle.
