Verona, NC – Mary Pittman Teachey, 87, died Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, 11:00 am at Verona Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Powell and Rev. James Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.
Mrs. Teachey was the oldest living member of Verona Baptist Church. She loved Jesus and her beloved Verona Baptist Church and all who go there.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas D. Teachey; brother, Ira Pittman and sisters, Thelma Sanders, Lottie Fisher, Elizabeth Creech, and Bernice Minital.
Survivors include her two sons, Larry D. Teachey of Greer, SC and Danny B. Teachey of Jacksonville; two sisters, Arlene Bailey and Shirley Prye both of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Jessica Miserendino of Greer, SC, Elizabeth Smithart of Greer, SC, Gina Ciarcia of Dumfries, VA, Brannan Teachey of Richlands, and Bryant Teachey of Oakland, CA; 10 great-grandchildren, Isabel, Isaac, Adalee, Eden, Luke, Cora, Seth, Hugh, Zoe and Kenzie, whom she adored and 21 nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Verona Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Verona Baptist Church, 152 Johnny Parker Rd, Verona, NC 28540
