Matthew Darrell Penton, 48, of Greenville NC died on Wednesday June 24, 2026, at his home. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday July,7, 2026 from 5-7 PM at Jones Funeral Home of Jacksonville.

Mr. Penton was the Assistant General Manager at Red Robin Restaurant. He loved live music, hiking, the outdoors, road trips, exploring new cities and states, trying new restaurants and craft beers. He loved spending time with his family and was a dedicated Duke Basketball fan.

Mr. Penton was preceded in death by his father Michael Penton, and his grandparents, Rodger and Mary Jane Ayres.

He is survived by the love of his life and Mother of his children, Corei Penton; his son, Jeremy; his daughters, Mackenzie Scott (Michael) and Rileigh; his mother, Deborah Penton; grandchildren, Braxton and Scarlett Scott; siblings, Michael and Amanda; two nieces, Talyana and Aryana. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Zoey along with many friends and coworkers He will be deeply missed.
