Hubert- Matthew Everett Perry, 75, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern. He was born June 7, 1950, in New Bedford, MA, and he was the son of the late George and Ethel Smith Perry.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 2:00pm at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Matthew faithfully served his country in the US Army and retired at the rank of LTC in 1997. After his retirement he began a career in the civil service in IT.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Ellen Herring Perry of the home; sons, George Perry (April) of Raleigh and Phillip Perry (Sarah) of Lusby, MD; and grandchildren, Emma Fitzpatrick and Matthew Perry.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
