Obituary

Retired MGySgt John William Orr, Jr., 73 of Jacksonville, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 8, 2014, at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, 12:30pm at Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Bulla officiating. Inurnment will be at the Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery, with full Military Honors.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, on Dec. 24, 1940 he came to the United States when he was 13, He joined the United States Marine Corps Feb. 17, 1959 and on June 6, 1963 he became a US Citizen. He fought in Vietnam and the Bay of Pigs. John proudly served the United States Marine Corps for 30 years. He was a member of Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church, and served as Usher Chairman for many years, was a Sunday School Teacher, Children Church and Vacation Bible School worker. After retiring from the United States Marine Corps, he went to work for Taco Bell and worked there for 13 years. He went on to be the Office Manager at Bryant's Carpet Pro the past 8 years.
He is Survived by his wife of 44 years Judy M. Orr of the home, son Thomas Orr and finance'Holli Pilger of Clayton, NC, daughters Lisa Skeen-Booher and husband Kevin, Dawn Bryant and husband Mike all of Jacksonville, NC. Eight grandchildren Ashley Roush of Whiteland, Indiana, Mandie Laird of Plymouth, Indiana, Tommy and Robert Orr, Brittany Bryant, Nichole Skeen, Haylee Bryant and Amber Skeen all of Jacksonville. Five great grandchildren, Rylee Laird, Ryder Orr, Maddox Orr, Ethan Laird and Liam Roush, Sisters, Irene Kordasiewicz of Angola, NY and Annette Kadow of Palm Coast, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John William Orr, Sr. and Sarah Linton Orr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the John Orr Memorial Fund at Marine Federal Credit Union, 4180 Western Blvd. Jacksonville, NC 28560
