Michael Lee Jones, 53, of Hampstead, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Sneads Ferry Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Dr. Joseph D. Washburn officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.

He was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, to Catherine Wilson and Gerald Jones. Mike attended Heritage High School before studying Computer Science at Central Virginia Community College, both in Lynchburg.

When he was nine years old, he received his first computer. He promptly decided to take it apart and put it back together. He instantly found a love for computers. He was an avid music fan who could listen to just a few bars of a song and tell you the title, lead vocalist, standout musicians, album, and even the month and year of its release. He was, in many ways, a human Shazam.

Mike enjoyed a successful career of more than 20 years as a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer, working in both county government and e-commerce. In 2018, he embarked on a new professional path and became a real estate broker, working side by side with his wife in residential real estate. Together, they also co-founded and co-owned Blue Anchor Property Management.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Cathy Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife, Denise Thomas Jones; his daughters, Alison Jones and Katelyn Jones (wife, Camilla); his father, Gerald Jones; his sisters, Wendy Wright and Courtney Horner (husband, Jason); numerous nieces, nephews, and (grand) nieces; and his beloved dog, Bailey.
