JACKSONVILLE - Michael Leo Schilling, 62, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at his home in Jacksonville, NC. Born January 11, 1963, in Bristol, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of Leo Schilling and the late Jeanette Davis Gavet. Michael worked with Penn Engineering in Danboro, PA as a machine operator for 40 years. He also worked at View Through Technologies in Quakertown, PA prior to retiring. In retirement, he cherished spending time with his family, a source of constant joy and pride.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Carol Schilling, and his father, Leo Schilling of Mercer, Maine. Michael was a loving father to his three daughters: Lisa Beck (Robert) of Allentown, PA; Stephanie Pettijohn (Timothy) of Cottondale, AL; and Ashley Degen (Justin) of Hubert, NC. He took great pride in cheering on his grandchildren, who will miss him dearly: Nicholas Beck, Jolene Beck, Leah Degen, and Jase Degen. Michael is also survived by his sister, Eileen Prasky of Souderton, PA, and his brothers: Brian Schilling (Traci) of Mercer, ME; Ray Burns (Nina) of Bedminster, PA; Timothy Burns (Alexandra) of Gupton, GA; and Chris Newborn (Danielle) of Schenectady, NY. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Gavet; his stepfather, Lee Gavet; and his grandson, Colton Degen.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro Chapel. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation beginning at 12:00 PM. A luncheon will follow the service, with details provided Thursday at the service.
A memorial service will also be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Deep Run West Mennonite Church located at 1008 Deep Run Rd, Perkasie, PA. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation beginning at 3:00PM with the service following at 4:00PM. Following the service, all are welcome to gather for a meal that will be served at the church.
