JACKSONVILLE  -  Michele Luise Reintjes went to be with the Lord January 13, 2025, at GlenBridge Health and Rehabilitation in Boone, NC.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Jacksonville.  Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.

Ms. Reintjes was a dedicated and resilient worker throughout her life. Even before the Americans with Disabilities Act was enacted, she exemplified self-sufficiency and determination, overcoming countless obstacles with grace and perseverance. Michele had a generous heart and was always willing to help others. She once said that she enjoyed going out in public with a smile on her face, hoping to show others that, despite life's challenges, there is always something to be grateful for.

She earned a bachelor's degree in social work and began her career working at The King's Daughters Nursing Home in Tennessee, where she served with compassion and dedication. She later worked as a civil servant under the Office of Personnel Management for over 20 years, continuing her commitment to service.

Known for her love of Star Trek, Michele proudly embraced her status as a Trekkie. She also adored her faithful service dogs, Noble and Kendra, and cherished the simple pleasure of a good cup of coffee. Above all, Michele was a true servant of God, touching countless lives with her kindness and faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and Leonard Reintjes; sister, Sarah Johnson; and brother John Reintjes.

Survivors include two brothers, David (Shawn) Reintjes and Peter (Marty) Reintjes; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, January 24, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel.
