JACKSONVILLE - Ottis Humphrey, 82, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, May 9, 2026 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Grants Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.
Mr. Humphrey was a son of the late Lester and Flossie Garrett Humphrey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Frances Humphrey; and two children, Timmy Wayne Humphrey and Tammy Humphrey.
He is survived by his wife, Betty M. Humphrey of the home; son, Danny Humphrey and his wife, Sue of Jacksonville; daughter, Shannon Collins of Richlands; brother, Troy Humphrey of Jacksonville; brother, Gerry Humphrey and his wife, Diana of Swansboro; sister, Peggy Thompson and her husband, Ronnie of Swansboro; sister, Jenette Carson and her husband, Kevin of Fort Myers, FL; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Collins of Richlands; three step-children, Tina Trott of Maysville, Lisa Smen of Jacksonville and Lori Millinder of Maysville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Humphrey was a skilled woodworker and master carpenter. He could build just about anything he set his mind to. He loved being outdoors; either working or just sitting and watching birds, he found great comfort being outside. His greatest joy was his family; he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon, prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 PM at the church.
