First Sergeant Patrick Daniel Ryan, USMC Ret., age 59, passed away on September 15th, 2026. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Jones Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Pat was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and was the third oldest of six siblings. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years, retiring at the distinguished rank of First Sergeant. Pat dedicated his life to loving and serving others, both personally and professionally. He was a man of great honor and integrity and was always ready with a witty joke. After his service, Pat continued to serve the country he loved as a MCTIMS Field Support Representative.

While Pat had numerous achievements and awards for his many years of service, his true joy and purpose was found in being the best husband, father, and grampy. Nothing was more important to Pat than his loved ones, as he was the anchor of the Ryan family. The way he loved and cared for his family was second to none. As a marine he had a bench outside his office that said, “dry your tears.” But underneath his toughness, he was known by his family for giving 100 brushes each night to his granddaughters, chasing the kids around making pterodactyl noises, and saying each year was going to be “the year” for the Chicago Bears. Rather you knew him as a marine, father, friend, or grampy he will always be remembered for his unwavering commitment and dedication to everything that he set his mind to. His wit, strength, and love will be remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Pat leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service. Pat is survived by his wife of 30 years, Heather Ryan; siblings Margaret, Mary, Terry, Kathleen, and Bill; sons, Daniel Ryan and Sean Ryan; daughter, Kelly Fischer; Son-in-Law, Mark Fischer; Daughter-in-Laws, Kiley Ryan and Katie Ryan; and Grandchildren, Adeline, Elliot, Samuel, Lillian, Dean and Ruth.

His passing leaves a void in our hearts that can never be filled, but his memory and legacy will be left with us always. He will never be forgotten. Rest easy “Grumpy Grampy.” We love you more than tongue can tell.
