Obituary

JACKSONVILLE  -  Paula Sueann Foster (Heintzelman) of Onslow County, formerly of White Cloud, MI and Dorr, MI, a beloved Mother, Daughter, Sister, Nana, Aunt and Friend, passed away surrounded by love.

To know Paula was to know warmth, compassion, and unwavering strength. She poured her heart into her family, and her greatest joy came from being a Mother and Nana. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she embraced each moment with them with pride and devotion.

Paula was also a cherished daughter and sister, always ready with a listening ear, a gentle word, or a helping hand. Her love for her family was boundless, and her presence made every gathering brighter. As a Friend, she was someone you could always count on—her laughter, kindness, and steady support touched the lives of so many.

Her grandchildren knew her as Nana, a role she embraced with all the love and joy in her heart. From shared stories to quiet hugs, Paula created memories that will be treasured forever.

Paula's life was a beautiful example of love in action. She gave selflessly, loved deeply, and lived fully. Though her passing leaves an ache in the hearts of all who knew her, her legacy continues through the love she shared and the countless lives she touched.

She leaves behind her loving family, including Emily (Josh) Thacker; grandchildren, Frances and Eli; siblings, Sharon (Douglas) Cannon, Michael (Katrina) Zimmerman, Gene (Steph) Heintzelman and Jackie (Joe) Kukal; nieces; nephews; and many friends, who will forever cherish her memory. Paula is also lovingly survived by her chosen family, who held a special place in her heart.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Judy Heintzelman; and her brother, Paul, Jr.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, November 1, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, 303 Chaney Ave, Jacksonville, NC 28540. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor her, share memories, and find comfort in one another. Following this visitation, there will be a Celebration of Life luncheon at the family home, 210 Mewborn Drive, Beulaville, NC 28518 from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. An additional gathering will be held in Michigan on Saturday July 11, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM  at Morley Park, Cedar Springs, MI .

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested donations be made to Emily to help with unexpected expenses.

Paula will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
