Paula Lanier Reid, 68, of Jacksonville, passed away on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025 surrounded by her family and close friends. She was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, friend and genuine sweetheart.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, William "Bill" Reid, mother, Elise Lanier of New Bern, daughters, Laura Reid Cumbo (David) of Jacksonville, and Rebecca Reid Hayworth (Erik) currently stationed in Honolulu, HI. She leaves to cherish her memory her three grandchildren Riley, Brooks and Ellie with whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Lanier; and siblings, Rita and Neil Lanier.

Paula had a gentle spirit that put everyone at ease that met her. She had a zest for life and love for family like no other. She spent her life dedicated to children from her early years of raising her girls to working 23 years as a preschool teacher. In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, and recently completed all 50 states.

Paula loved everyone and everyone loved her. She is a light that will truly be missed.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, July 25th, 2025, at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Burial will follow the funeral service at Onslow Memorial Park. The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases or the American Liver Foundation.
