Peter Nick Panos, Sr., retired CWO-2, 96 yrs old, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025. He was born December 9, 1928, in Milwaukee, WI, a son of the late Gus and Clara Smith Panos.

Peter retired from USMC in 1972. He was a Korean and Vietnam war veteran. He worked in motor transport in the military and was a self-taught man of many skills. He loved his military career and thrived after retirement. He obtained his contractor's license after he retired and continued building and doing auto work for many years.

Peter had a genuine gift of wood carving that he discovered later in life. He focused on sea life and carved dolphins, crabs, turtles and other fish. He loved people and most would say he was quite the character.  He was also the most generous man, and it brought him joy to gift his carvings, help with auto/boat repairs, or just spend a few minutes visiting.  He was the life of the party and loved by everyone.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 6-8PM at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro.

He is survived by daughters, Rosa Panos of Flagler Beach, FL, and Donna Panos (Mary Powell) of Hubert, Sandra Bickers of Hubert and a son Charles Panos of AL and their children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Florence Marie Panos and a son Peter Panos, Jr.
