Obituary

SGT Philip Stephen Shook, age 29, of Maysville, NC passed away on November 9, 2013 at New Hanover Medical Center, after injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 13, 2013 at Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro from 12:30pm till 2pm.
Funeral Services with Full Military Honors will follow at 2pm at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Swansboro.
Philip is survived by a son, Kouper Degan Shook of Cumberland, MS; his father, Perry A. Shook Jr. of Fairhope, AL.; his mother, Joyce Moore (Garry) of Houston, MS; He is also survived by a sister, Talitha Sims of Tupelo, MS and a brother, Jonathan Shook (Erin) of Hernando, MS and a nephew and two nieces. He also leaves behind a fiancé, Tiffany Bosley.
SGT Shook was a dedicated and decorated Marine who served two tours in Iraq and one in Japan with ten years of service. His last unit assignment was with the Wounded Warrior Battalion-East, Wounded Warrior Regiment. During his time in service he earned service medals that include, Iraqi Campaign Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the National Defense Medal.
Philip loved riding motorcycles and was a member of Southern Mayhem MC.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 17, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, Tupelo, MS at 3:00pm. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00, prior to the funeral.
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
