Obituary

Phillip "Phil" Glenn Christman, 75, of Sneads Ferry, NC, passed away on May 3, 2025 with a sweet friend who came to be by his side.

Phil was born on June 13, 1949 in Gibsonville, NC, the son of Edwin Henry and Ethel Marcelle Christman (Harper).

Phil resided at Mills Home Baptist Orphanage in Thomasville much for of his youth, along with several of his siblings where they gained many more siblings over the years. Phil graduated from Thomasville High School in 1968. He went on to pursue the career of his dreams as an artist and musician, touching the lives of so many with his talents.

Phil married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Kaye Johnson in 1968. They were married for 10 years and had two children, Phillip "Scott" and Dana Lee-Anna.

Phil's numerous artistic talents led him through many adventures working his entire life mainly as a self-taught artist and musician. Phil played various instruments in several bands throughout the years, the drums being his initial passion. Working for Emmons Guitar, Phil met several high-profile musicians during his tenure there. He traveled the world painting murals in places such as Holland, Alaska, Hawaii, the Carolinas and California. He worked in Hollywood painting studio sets, adorned Disney with his beautiful artistry, captured the breathtaking views of the Colorado mountains on canvas, as well as capturing the serene Carolina coastlines. He enjoyed painting boats, trains, barns, marine life and any of God's creation.  Back to his roots of North Carolina is where he settled for his last years, this time on the coast in Sneads "by God" Ferry, where he shared his love for God's creation with others through his artwork.

Phil was a mighty man of valor, walking alongside many to support them as they broke free from the chains of addictions after courageously walking it out himself over many years. He was a steadfast "friend of Bill W", where helping his fellow brother and sister- and them helping him- became a passion. His fellowship was his other home, and his friends became family. Phil possessed the gift of having a quick wit. He loved laughter, and he was very good at making anyone laugh. He loved to talk about his grandchildren to anyone who would listen.

Remaining family to cherish Phil's memory include his children, Phillip "Scott" Christman (Kelly) and Dana Berry (Robert); nine grandchildren, Justin Hardwick (Katie), Chelsie Webb, Jordan Hardwick (Olivia), Adam Christman (Brittany), Erica Laluyan (Cody), Myranda Carvelli (Joseph), Patrick Beirne, Jackson Beirne and Jacob Fouts; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Deloris Rehak, Joan Ferrante; and numerous extended family members.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eddie "Ed" and Butch "Will",  Christman; two sisters, Glenda "Pete" Taylor and Bennie Phillips; two beloved nephews, Pete Christman and Glenn Taylor; and a great great nephew, Jarred Tauzin.
