Cape Carteret— Ralph Sylvester Morgan, 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born April 26, 1946, in Smithfield, North Carolina, to the late Melzer Adron Morgan and Elizabeth Rogers Morgan.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Swansboro Rotary Civic Center, 1104 Main Street Extension, Swansboro, NC 28584. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Emerald Isle Baptist Church, 304 Emerald Plantation Road, Emerald Isle, NC 28594, officiated by Pastor Zach Emory.
Ralph faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves before beginning a distinguished career with North Carolina Farm Bureau, where he retired as an Agency Manager. He was an active member of Emerald Isle Baptist Church and was deeply involved in his community through his service with the Swansboro Rotary Club and as a board member of Baptist Retirement Homes. Ralph was a devoted supporter of NC State athletics and took great pride in cheering on the Wolfpack. He also enjoyed spending time on the water, boating and fishing with family and friends. Above all, Ralph cherished time spent with his family and friends, creating lasting memories with those he loved most.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Mangum Morgan of the home; his children, Margaret Morgan Lee, Christopher Brian Pope (Shelley), and Leah Ragan Ham (Dale); his grandchildren, Brittany Lee, Megan Lee, Chelsea Lee, Seth Pope (Kassidy), Luke Pope, Jake Pope, Kayla Ham, and Leah Ham; his great-granddaughter, Hadley Layne Koonce; and his siblings, Melzer Adron Morgan Jr. (Molly), Anne Rogers Morgan, and Joseph Norman Morgan (Nancy).
