Raymond Goodson, 79, of Jacksonville, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, NC.

Raymond was born August 2, 1941 in Chiefland, Florida to Theodore Roosevelt "T.R." Goodson and Louise "Hattie" Ventry Goodson.  On January 17, 1956 he married Eleanor Goodson and they shared their life together in Jacksonville for 64 years.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and four brothers: Kenneth, Randy, Harrell, and Marvin "Bobby" Goodson.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor Goodson; three children, Raymond "Rod" Goodson of Jacksonville, NC, Donna Bizicand her husband, John of Columbia, NC; and Christian (Kristie) Goodson, of Jacksonville, NC. Raymond was blessed with 8 grandchildren, Jeffrey Goodson and wife, Carrie, Amber Williams and husband, Matthew, Jarrett Goodson and wife Mariah, Alexandria Goodson-Jones, Christopher Goodson, Colton Bizic, Brody Bizic and Olivia Bizic. Raymond was also blessed with 7 great grandchildren: Cooper Williams, Carter Williams, Ethan Goodson, Ella Goodson, Everleigh Goodson, Charlotte Goodson and Elijah Bizic.

Also surviving are his siblings: Allen Goodson and Donald Goodson both of Jacksonville, Edna Barnes of VA, Shirley Robertson of VA and Alma Lee Campbell of PA.

Raymond was known for his kind, loving, and generous heart. He had a strong work ethic and a passion for being in the woods as a second-generation logger. When he wasn't working, you could often find him eating breakfast with his brothers at Baker's or at the nearest race track fueling his need for speed.

A private funeral service will be held at Onslow Memorial Park.
