Rebekah Sue
Formby Logan
May 14, 1976 – May 21, 2024
Rebekah Sue Formby Logan, 48, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Okinawa, Japan, on May 14, 1976. Rebekah grew up in Zephyrhills, FL, and spent most of her summers in Swansboro with family. She permanently moved to Eastern NC in 1992, eventually settling down in Hampstead.
When reflecting on her life, Rebekah was the cornerstone of many families. Whether she was an integral part as a friend, nanny, caregiver, or advocate, Rebekah's life was dedicated to raising children. It was when she had her own child that her heart was finally full. When you met Rebekah, you couldn't help but be impressed by her razor-sharp wit, her baked goodies, love for reality TV, eclectic taste in music, desire to monogram anything, and her ability to force people to wear matching outfits all while wearing freshly applied lipstick.
Rebekah had several jobs over the years. She loved entertaining people and having fun. Whether she was waitressing at Rucker Johns in Emerald Isle or Rick's in Sneads Ferry, service to others is what made her the happiest. Rebekah made a large impact in her community when she worked for the Guardian ad Litem office in Onslow County, MARSOC, and as an emergency 911 dispatcher for many years. Oftentimes, Rebekah's soothing voice was the last voice heard by those in their darkest moments. Her amazing ability to be calm in the hardest moments made her perfect for the job.
Rebekah was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jack and Betty Bell, of Swansboro, and her mother, Jackie Bell, of Zephyrhills. She is survived by her daughter, Emmalyn, of Hampstead; father, Keith McKenzie, of Zephyrhills; brother, Matthew (Mercedes), of Zephyrhills; and her beloved nieces, R'ecely, Jada, and Sophia Formby, all of Zephyrhills.
A private service will be held for Rebekah. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Child Advocacy Center at One Place in Jacksonville, NC. https://www.oneplaceonslow.org/donate-today/
