JACKSONVILLE - Richard Howard Thompson, 64, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel with Rev. Dennis Anderson officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Dedicated Marine of 27 years, Gulf War Veteran retired as MgySgt. A loving Husband, dedicated father, and proud Grandpa.
He is survived by his wife, Estrella V. Thompson of the home; two sons, James Thompson of Camp Lejeune and Michael Thompson of High Point; four brothers, John Thompson and his wife, Ellen of Edgewater, NJ, Timothy "Timmy" Thompson and his wife, Kathy of Beverly, NJ, Randy Thompson of Kennesaw, GA and Douglas Taylor of Burlington, NJ; two sisters, Sue Anderson and her husband, Dennis of Eustis, FL and Teresa Coppola of Burlington, NJ; and one granddaughter, Giuliana Thompson.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 - 7 PM at the funeral home.
