March 18, 1946 – May 2, 2025
Rita Woodcock Reeves of Swansboro, NC, aka ReeRee to her grandchildren and close friends, passed away at The Cottages of Swansboro on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, at the age of 79. She is preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Joseph Woodard "Woody" Reeves, her parents, Charlie and Lucille Woodcock, her sister Linda 'Sissy' Jackson and nephew, Jedadiah "Jed" Woodcock.
She is survived by her brother, Victor Allen "Bookie" Woodcock, son Walter Barrett (Snapper) Overman, her daughter, Kelly Farless (Tim) and grandsons Grayson and Parker, nieces, Duchess Pittman Edwards (Robert) and Tori Woodcock Mason (Jeremy).
Rita was born and raised in Rocky Mount, NC. She was a dedicated employee at Pulaski Furniture Company, in Pulaski, VA. She met her husband Woody, while living in Pulaski, and later moved to Martinsville, VA after they were married. While in Martinsville, she enjoyed an active role in the Garden Club, while working in conjunction with her husband's business, Piedmont Vendors. Together they developed Heart Smart, a healthier option for their clients.
Rita was dedicated to her family and loved spending time with them. Her heart was always happy while entertaining family and friends at their home in Martinsville and their home in Swansboro. She enjoyed many hobbies including decorating, sewing, painting and other crafting projects.
She was always ready for a good time! Her radiant and fun-loving personality brought countless memories to all around her. Throughout her journey, Rita touched the lives of so many people in meaningful ways. Rita was known by friends and neighbors as the "ReeRee Fairy" for her selfless love and support throughout her time on Wind Dance Lane.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm, Sunday, June 1, at The Cottages of Swansboro, NC with a reception to follow at IL Cigno Restaurant in Swansboro.
