Robert Cecil
Cole
May 3, 1935 – April 1, 2026
Robert C. Cole (90) May 3,1935-April 1, 2026
In loving memory of Robert "Bob" Cecil Cole, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 1, 2026, at his son's home in New Bern, NC.
Bob was a gentle loving man who worked tirelessly to ensure his family always had everything they needed. He was a true role model who taught us the importance of hard work, family, and most of all a relationship with God. We all love you so much.
Bob was born in Lumberton, NC on May 3, 1935, the son of the late Cyrus Elwood Cole and Adrienne Cecil Cole.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Rose Farrow Cole, his daughter Madeline Lynn Cole, along with three sisters, Pat Bedsole, Harriet Guyton, and Carolyn Williams.
Bob was raised in Carolina Beach, retired after 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Pharmacist, then retired 20 years at Wayne Memorial Hospital as a pharmacist, and then retired a third time from AAI of Wilmington. Bob enjoyed golfing, bowling, and had a reputation with wife Rose as being one of the best shag couples on the island along with family gatherings at their pool, long walks on the beach, and an occasional cold beverage at Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar.
Bob is survived by his daughter Adrienne Cole Kratzer and husband Carroll of Greenville NC, son Robert Cecil Cole Jr. and wife Susan of New Bern, eight grand children Jennifer Peak, Amanda Newbold, Kathryn Kratzer, Cole Kratzer, Brittany VanGritis, Chelsea Cole, Bobby Benson, and James Benson, also 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 6-8 pm at Jones Funeral Home of Jacksonville. Burial Services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 12 noon at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Amedisys Home Health Care and Hospice of both Wilmington and New Bern, as well as special caregivers from Seniors Choosing to Live at Home of New Bern.
