BEULAVILLE  -  Roger Owen Lanier passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at his home in Beulaville, NC. His Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at River of Life Church, 2460 Gum Branch Road, in Jacksonville, NC. Immediately following the Celebration of Life, a repast will be held at Believer's Fellowship (3932 NC-41, Trenton, NC 28585). There will be no graveside service.

Roger is survived by his wife Kathi Lanier, daughters Crissy Lanier and Heather Mendoza (Pedro Mendoza Jr.), mother Helen Futrell Lanier, and grandchildren Jonathan Lanier, Jayden Roberts, Lucia Mendoza, and Pedro Mendoza III.

He is preceded in death by his father Sydney D. Lanier and brother Dexter Allen Lanier.

Roger was born on April 26, 1959 in Jacksonville, NC and graduated from Richlands High School. He retired from the Onslow County Sheriff's Department after 26 years of service. He was known for his rare ability to truly see the good in everyone he met. Roger's greatest gift was his ability to look past the surface and see the true worth of a person. Whether it was a stranger in need or a lifelong friend, he treated everyone with dignity, respect, and genuine care. His laughter, warm presence, and open heart left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him.

His love for the Lord was a testimony to everyone he met. Roger was very active in his church, River of Life. Throughout the years, he used his law enforcement experience to volunteer with the security and usher teams. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was known for his love of his dog Roxie. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
