Stella- Ronald Earl “Ron”/”PawPaw” Townsend, 75, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born on November 30, 1950, in Boone, NC, a son of the late Arthur Earl and Sarah L. Pitts Townsend.

A celebration and family burial will be held in Boone at a later date.

Ron faithfully served his country in the US Air Force for 27 years and retired at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. His greatest joy in life was being surrounded by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Townsend; daughter, Renae Martinez (Steve); grandson Jacob Martinez (Amber) and granddaughter Julia Martinez; and siblings, Timothy D. Townsend and Susan E. Norris.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Terry Dwayne Townsend and Michael Ray Townsend
