Obituary

Roy Earl Patterson II, son of Roy and Elesebeth Patterson, passed away in the presence of his family on June 2nd, 2026. Roy was born on August 8th, 1956, in Inglewood, California.

There will be a viewing on June 19th, 2026, starting at 3pm at Jones Funeral Home and immediately followed by a small service.

Roy is survived by his son, Roy James Patterson, his two daughters, Beth Fox (Joseph) and Rebecca Bullard (Kevin) and his nine grandchildren: James, Benjamin, Matthew, Ethan, Ariel, Cole, Cyndal, Savannah, and Maisie. He is also survived by his brother, Glen Patterson (Janet) and his niece, Courtney Patterson.

Roy was a miracle from the start. Diagnosed with muscular dystrophy as a child, he astonished everyone as he made All Stars in Little League, transitioned to high school where he made all CIF in both football and wrestling all while keeping on the honor role throughout his high school years in Lompoc, California. Overcoming all obstacles, he played football as an offensive tackle at Allen Hancock Junior College for two years before he transferred to Indiana State where he helped lead the team to the state championship game in 1977. Roy was a triple threat as he also wrestled for Indiana State while obtaining a spot on the Dean’s List.

Roy had an un-matched work ethic. Graduating with a master’s degree in business from Manchester Business College in England, he became a top sales representative with over a million dollars in sales credited to him. Later, he became an entrepreneur and opened his own small business in the postal industry, Priority Presort.

Roy was a loving and dependable father; there wasn’t a recital or a game that he missed. He showed up even when he couldn’t be there, even when his kids became adults, through cards and daily phone calls. Without a doubt, he showed his family that he loved them. Roy was a devoted father, brother, grandpa, and uncle to his family whom he loved and adored until his final breath.

Most importantly, Roy had an unwavering faith in Jesus, often exclaiming how could he not believe when God had done so much for him. Roy’s faithfulness, while it was tested, ultimately

never faltered. Even through some of his biggest trials with losing his son, Daniel Wayne Patterson, Roy still boldly proclaimed the goodness of God.

Roy loved sports, word games, singing, music, food, his family and his Lord. He will be forever remembered in every chocolate chip pancake that we make, in every bite of chocolate PB fudge that we eat, in every sport that we play and in every song lyric that we sing wrong.
