Sammy Garfield
Smith
August 8, 1950 – September 17, 2025
Sammy G. Smith, 75, of Jacksonville, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 17th, in Jacksonville, NC, and now rests in the arms of Jesus in his heavenly home. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, September 22, at 2:00 pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church of Jacksonville, NC. The service will be officiated by Pastor Damon Williamson, with burial to follow at Onslow Memorial Park.
Sammy is preceded in death by his dear wife, Dottie Smith, of 57 years; his parents, Cyrus Daniel Smith and Lillian Allen Smith; his brother, Phillip Smith, two siblings who died in early childhood; and his grandson, Cyrus Jackson Smith. Sammy is survived by his sister, Bonnie Morton, and brother Ronald Smith (Dorothy), his two sons, Lee Smith (Hilary) of Gastonia, NC, and Mitch Smith (Kimberly) of Chinquapin, NC; his grandchildren, Leah, Rogan, Lily, and Sadie; his great-grandchild, Hudson Smith; and many very special nieces and nephews.
Sammy was able to impact countless lives by using the gifts God blessed him with through his unique understanding of mechanics and electricity in his business, Sam's Motor Rewinding (Stone Collins Rewind), which he viewed as a ministry for over 50 years.
Sammy loved spending time with his family and friends, serving and worshiping with those he cherished, and celebrating the beauty of God's intricate creation. He was always quick to laugh and show his love for others, but more importantly, to share the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ. Friends and family will deeply miss Sammy, but we take comfort in knowing this is not our home, and we celebrate the promise of eternity offered to all through Jesus Christ.
The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home on Sunday, September 21st, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church building fund.
