Obituary

Sara Ann (Morton) Parker, 88, of Jacksonville, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 23, 2025, at Duke University Hospital surrounded by her loving Family.

She was a loving mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved her family, and one of her greatest joys came from being a mother and Nana. She loved her family with all her heart.

Sara truly enjoyed being in her yard surrounded by her flowers. She loved having a beautiful yard and home. She looked forward to her daily visits and phone calls from her children and grandchildren. It was the highlight of her day. She enjoyed her weekly shopping trips with a stop at McDonalds for an iced coffee, her favorite. She loved telling stories about her life. Sara loved her church and church family. She could often be found reading her bible in her flower room.

Sara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Robert Lee Parker Sr; her parents Tommy and Julia Morton; brothers Ivy, Dwight, Jimmy, and Archie; and sisters Ruby Pittman and Judy Timar.

Sara is survived by her loving children, her daughter Sheila Faye Waits and her husband, Mike of Glendale, AZ, son Robert Lee Parker, Jr. and wife, Misty of Jacksonville, NC, son Anthony Mack Parker and wife, Kathy of Jacksonville, NC, sister Connie Morton and husband, Floyd, brothers Rodney Morton and Lonnie Morton and wife, Gayle. She was a loving "Nana" to eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, as well as having many special nieces and nephews.

Sara will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. We find comfort in knowing that we will see her again in our heavenly home.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 30th, 2025 at Emmanual FWB Church, 1694 Halltown Rd, Jacksonville, NC 28546 Pastor Henry Parker will be officiating. The family will receive visitors immediately before the funeral from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church.
