JACKSONVILLE, NC
MSgt. Stephen "Hook" Hallstrom, USMC Ret, 66, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends, on Thursday, June 6, 2013.
Graveside funeral services, with military honors, will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Hallstrom was born in Worcester, MA and was the son of the late Lincoln and Mary McGrath Hallstrom. He served his country honorably with the United States Marine Corps and achieved the rank of MSgt. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Hallstrom.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Julie L. Hallstrom of the home; three daughters, Mary Anne Downs and her husband, Joseph of Canal Fulton, OH, Kristina DeWinter and her husband, Tony of Kodiak, AK and Cheryl Nelson and her husband, Jim of Cave Junction, OR; three brothers, Michael Hallstrom of Sun Valley, NV, Mark Hallstrom of Bakersfield, CA and Phillip Hallstrom and his wife, Linda of Vacaville, CA; and six grandchildren.
