Stephen Edward
Jones
November 22, 1950 – March 25, 2025
Newport- Stephen Edward Jones, 74, passed away Tuesday, March 25,2025 at Carteret Healthcare in Morehead City. He was born November 22,1950 in Chelsea, MA a son of the late Fredrick and Marion Kendrick Jones.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Stephen worked for Seaway Food Town for 35 years and held many different billets including Head Cashier, Produce Manager Dairy and Frozen Foods. Stephen also worked for the City of Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation taking care of the public beach access meeting and helping people from all over the country enjoying their vacations.
Stephen enjoyed going to car shows and showing off his 1965 Olds Cutlass, meeting fellow car enthusiasts and sharing stories from their younger years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, whether it was going on trips to Gettysburg or road trips to Charleston and Beaufort SC to enjoy sites with family. He loved shooting his guns, he loved the challenge of tight shot groups and challenging his grandsons to see who could get in the black.
Stephen loved building his models, whether it was hot rod cars, planes from WW-2 and Gun Trucks from Vietnam. He always showed them off explaining their time in history. The many videos he watched to make them better, sleeker and to the most attention to detail was always the challenge. He was very proud of them.
Stephen loved his wife Christine very much, they were married for 53 years and they were always together. He enjoyed all the traveling they did to Gettysburg, and to the southern states to enjoy Civil War battle sites and the rich history it provided. He missed her very much when she passed and we know they are together again enjoying each other with family and friends.
Dad was a great father, role model and mentor to his sons. There isn't a time we didn't seek his counsel for major matters and family history. His hard work ethic was instilled in
his sons, which will continue in the future for our children. There was never a time we didn't say we loved each other. We are very proud of our dad and the men we have become because of him. Thank You Dad!
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Christine Jones.
He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Jones (Rebecca) of Hubert, NC Bradley Jones (Emily) of Nixa, MO grandchildren Alexander, Jacob (Sheyenne), Stephen, and Zoey.
Stephen would want you to spend time with family and friends, travel, visit, and see all you can. Enjoy life, help others and take some time for yourself.
