Obituary

Steven Bradley Berry, 54, of Jacksonville, North Carolina went to be with the Lord, February 18, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 26 at 2:00pm at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Steven is survived by his wife Janette Berry, daughters Miranda and Sadie (Joshua "Tyler"), brothers Jerry Jr. (Jeannette) and Frank Berry (Janette). He was also survived by aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Steven was born on January, 2 1969 in Columbus, Ohio to parents Jerry Berry Sr. and Sandra Berry, both deceased.

Steven grew up in Pickerington, Ohio. During his childhood Steven joined Cub Scout Troop 256. He was involved in his local church, had accepted Christ as his Savior, and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Pickerington.

During high school Steven participated in band, wrestling, and weightlifting. He graduated from Pickerington High School in 1987.

Steven enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in June 1987. During his service to our nation Steven participated in DESERT SHIELD, DESERT STORM, Operations RESTORE HOPE, JOINT/DECISIVE ENDEAVOR, DENY FLIGHT, SILVER WAKE, ENDURING FREEDOM, and IRAQI FREEDOM. Having served in a variety of theaters with multiple combat tours and contingency operations, Master Gunnery Sergeant Berry's awards, badges, devices, and decorations are consistent with those of most Marines who have had the honor to serve the U.S. over a period of three decades.

Upon retiring from the Marine Corps, Steven continued to serve his nation as a U.S. Defense Contractor supporting the II Marine Expeditionary Force, where he served as a Deputy Senior Program Manager in support of the G-2 Intelligence section.

In Steven's free time he enjoyed bowling and landscaping. He was also an avid beachcomber with Janette. His favorite sports teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Steven was a faithful and loving husband and a devoted father and brother.

Steven loved his family, his Marines, and fellow employees and was fiercely protective of each and every one of them.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm on Sunday, February 26 at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
