Obituary

RICHLANDS  -  Steven Anthony Bigham, 29, of Richlands, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024 at Onslow Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services and a Celebration of Steven's Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel.  Burial, with military honors, will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Steven was born at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington DC on March 31, 1995.

He attended Grace Brethren Christian School in Clinton Maryland from Kindergarten until twelfth grade. He graduated in 2013. While at Grace he played on the soccer team and baseball teams. He helped build sets for school plays. Steven was also active in Grace Brethren Church of Clinton helping in the children's ministry.

Steven entered Marine Bootcamp on January 5th 2015. After boot camp he attended the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton California. Upon completion of the School of Infantry he attended the Basic Security Guard Course in Virginia and was assigned to Charlie 2 Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team where he deployed two times to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and various places in the middle east. After his time in FAST company came to an end he received orders to 2nd Battalion 8th Marines in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he deployed to Japan. Upon completion of his time with 2/8 he received orders to serve as a Combat Instructor for the School of Infantry with Bravo company. In 2022 he received orders to 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines where he served as an infantry platoon sergeant for his fourth deployment to Okinawa Japan.

He will forever be known for his love of Harley Davidson motorcycles, Ford Mustangs, and being the go-to mechanic for his friends and family.

Steven was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Douglas Bigham; paternal grandmother, Arnella Neighbors; maternal grandfather, Arthur Santarelli; maternal aunt, Justine Fairclough and uncles, Douglas B. Bigham and Jay Bigham.

He is survived by his parents, Anthony "Tony" Bigham and Charlene Bigham of Deep Run, NC; brother Christopher Bigham of Richlands, NC, girlfriend, Lois Goodman and her son, Johhny Goodman; maternal grandmother, Patricia Santarelli; and many loving aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday evening, December 12, 2024 at the funeral home.
