RICHLANDS  -  Sue (Banks) Spann, 86, of Richlands, went to be with her Savior on Friday, October 4, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Tuckahoe Christian Church in Trenton, NC with Pastor Roger Noble officiating. Friends may visit with the family, prior to the service, beginning at 10:30.

Mrs. Spann was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mable Banks, of Comfort, NC; sister, Ruth Dixon; and her husband of over 60 years, James Spann. She was born on June 10, 1938, on the family farm in Comfort, NC.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Blake, and son-in-law Jon Blake of Fayetteville, NC; 5 grandchildren: Zachary Blake, and his wife Annagail of Fayetteville, NC, Madison Mall and her husband Austin, of Tallahassee, FL; Kate Griffin, and her husband, Isaiah, of Efland, NC; Joshua Blake, of Fayetteville, NC and Chloe Blake, of Fayetteville, NC; great-grandson, Andrew Mall of Tallahassee, FL.

Mrs. Spann loved her rural farm life and family and her most cherished memories included these early years of her upbringing. She married and moved to Laurel, MD where she raised her daughter, worked in sales, and worked at Patuxent Wildlife Research Center.

Retirement brought her back to the Jones County area where she enjoyed time reconnecting with family. Sue enjoyed being with her daughter and her family and was a much beloved "Ma." She also held a special place in her heart for her sister's children and grandchildren and was a much beloved "Aunt Sue." Those two were her most coveted titles.
