Velma Horne, 82, of Richlands, died Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at 7:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Richlands with Rev. Jimmy Aycock officiating. Interment will take place on Thursday, October 13, 2011, at 10:00 AM, in the Simpson Family Cemetery with Elder DB Stokes will be officiating.
Ms. Horne was born in Onslow County and was the daughter of the late Jennings and Alease Simpson Huffman. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Perry Glenn Horne, Sr. and a son, Perry G. Horne, Jr.
She is survived by two sons, Mark Horne and his wife Jamie of Huntsville, TN and Kenneth Horne of Richlands; one sister, Viola Jarvis of Jacksonville; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Huffman of Richlands; five grandchildren, Tracy Willis, Jody Horne, Andrew Horne, Matthew Horne and Jeremy Horne; six great-grandchildren, Reagan, Gabriel, Landon, Sierra, Noah and Jayden.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, from 5 to 7 PM.
