In Loving Memory of Vernon Lee Murphy

JACKSONVILLE - Vernon Murphy, a devoted father, husband, and proud Marine, passed away on December 27th at the age of 86. Born on September 3, 1938, Vernon dedicated 26 years of his life to serving his country with honor and distinction in the United States Marine Corps.

Throughout his military career, Vernon exemplified the values of courage, commitment, and selflessness. He served in various capacities, earning numerous commendations and the respect of his fellow Marines. His unwavering dedication to his country was matched only by his love for his wife and family.

Beyond his military service, Vernon had a passion for golf. He spent many joyful hours on the golf course, perfecting his swing and enjoying the camaraderie of his fellow golfers. His love for the games was extended to his sons and grandsons, whom he played with until his passing. Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Hatsuko, and their 4 children, Mitsunori Murphy, William Murphy, Sherman Murphy, and Alice Murphy Graham, and 2 daughters-in-law, Deborah Murphy, and Angie Murphy, and 9 grandchildren, Curran Murphy, Kyle Murphy, Peyton Murphy, Justin Murphy, Cameron Murphy, Myles Murphy, and Colin Graham.

He was predeceased by two beloved grandchildren, Jansen Murphy and Asia Graham.

He was a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration to all who knew him. His legacy of service and love will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A visitation will be held on December 30th from 12:00-2:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel, to honor and celebrate Vernon's life. A memorial service will follow immediately to honor and celebrate Vernon's life.
