Swansboro- Wanda Hicks Donovan Newcomb, 76, of Oxford, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 12,2024 surrounded by her family. Tragically, John Newcomb her husband passed away just two days earlier on December 10 from a lengthy illness. She was born July 21,1948 in Vance County, NC a daughter of the late Gertrude Tucker Wade Hicks and Robert Hicks.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.

With her quick wit and exhilarating personality, she never met a stranger and gave her whole self to whomever or whatever was in front of her. "SHE GAVE ALL" with some of her greatest attributes being kindness, caring, tenderness, dedication and most of all the LOVE she gave so freely. She loved without end; her family, friends, and her animals. Additionally, her other passions in life were cooking, entertaining, dancing, listening to music (mostly Elvis Presley), talking, Christmas with decorations displayed all year long and watching the waves roll in at the beach, her favorite place.

She leaves to cherish her memories are two daughters; Caty Trollope of Swansboro, NC, Darnell Nelson of Hubert, NC, son; Billy Jack Donovan of Chesterfield, VA and son-in-law Tony Trollope of Swansboro, NC. Grandchildren; Ashley Richardson, Christine Winston, Ciera Massey, Victoria Woodside, Kristin Trollope, Lilly Trollope, Jake Donovan, and Chloe Donovan and many great grandchildren. Also, two sisters, Jean Wade Burwell of Oxford, NC and Martha Wade Abbott of Henderson, NC and many nieces and nephews. Most of all her precious dogs; Scooter, Sissy, Sam, and Rex.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands; Sherman Nelson, William Donovan, and John Newcomb, sister, Joyce (John) Boyd and brothers-in-law W. C. (Snookum) Abbott and William Burwell and her dog Bear.
