JACKSONVILLE  -  Wanda Dail Gurganus, 71, of Jacksonville, North Carolina passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025 after a short, but brave, battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville with Rev. Susan Wells officiating.

Throughout her life she maintained her appreciation of natures beauty, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for all the blessings in her life. Wanda spent 17 years in banking, where she met the love of her life, Russell, and cultivated many long lasting friendships. She also spent 20+ years as a Deputy Clerk of Court with Onslow County and once again formed friendships that would last a lifetime.

In addition to her Lord and Savior, husband, 3 children, friends, and extended family, she loved her 9 grandchildren fiercely. She would remind each of them that she loved them "to the moon and back."

Wanda had an affinity for a good thrift store, reading, gardening, and traveling. Her infectious smile and generous heart will be sorely missed. Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, William Dail and Lena Hatcher Dail.

She is survived by her loving husband, James Russell Gurganus; children, Ashley Gurganus (Shelly) of Jacksonville, Sarah Lane (Adam) of Wilmington, and Rachel Shewbridge (Shane) of Asheville; grandchildren, Norah Maresh, Jackson Gurganus, Cash Maresh, Mollee Gurganus, Zane Lane, Wiley Shewbridge, Bodie Lane, Benton Lane, and Rowan Shewbridge; siblings, Glen Dail (Kendale) of Richlands and Beverly Riggs (Charles) of Richlands; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Gurganus of Jacksonville; brother-in-law, Michael Gurganus (Tammy); and several extended family and close friends.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM.
