Swansboro- William Gregory Abbott, 70, passed away Sunday August 19, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was born October 30, 1947 in Bradford, PA son of the late, Gale and Gail Kauffman Abbott.

A memorial service will be held at his home at a later date.

William served his country in the US Navy. He was a night auditor in the hotel industry.

He is survived by wife, Claudia Root Abbott of the home; sons, Rev. Keith Abbott Smith (Jennifer) of FL and William Greg Abbott Smith (Cindy) of GA; daughters, Rachael Pruitt (Bo), Sarah Byrne (Jeremy) both of Hubert, and Ruth Gastreich (Mike) of Swansboro; fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother, Gale Robert "Bob" Abbott (Belinda) of FL; sister, Nancy Abbott of VA; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Kimberly Harriger of OR and Kathy Ogden of CA.
