Jacksonville, NC - William Prescott Colvin, 79, died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Onslow Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11:00am on Monday at St. Anne's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mary Frances Curns officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
A retired Master Chief with the U.S. Navy; he was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was the former Command Master Chief of the Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune. He was also a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church since 1976 and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association.
His wife, Roberta Dodd Colvin precedes him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara J. Woellhof and her husband, Patrick of Jacksonville; two sons, John P. Colvin of Fayetteville and Alan B. Colvin and his wife, Patricia of Jacksonville; five sisters, Alice McCracken, Elizabeth Telless, Anne Doherty, Roberta Perry all of Carver, MA and Priscilla Boudreau and her husband, Norman of Bernhard's Bay, NY; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
