HUBERT  -  William Eugene "Gene" Wells, 80, of Hubert, passed away Thursday, June 26,2025 at his home.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro Chapel.

Mr. Wells was born at Camp Lejeune on September 4,1944 to the late Nile Leroy and Lillian Bell Wells.

Gene was a commercial fisherman and loved to spend time in the open waters, but his greatest enjoyment was spent being surrounded by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Joanna Myers.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nancy Stephens Wells of the home; children, Gena Cook-Jones (Richard) of Hubert, James Stephen Wells of the home, and Brandy Bello (Tony) of Newport; grandchildren: Megan, Morgan, Chase, Corbin, and Patrick; and great grandchildren: Niles, Carson, Eli, Logan, Nathanel, Levi, Liah, Lily, Linc, and Renly.
