William Talmadge "Ted" Carney, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Onslow Memorial Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Talmadge Carney and Leona Moore Carney; his granddaughter, Alexandria Buff; and his siblings, Winona C. "Bunny" Jarman, Gordon Cole, and Carol Cole.

Ted will be remembered for his love of the simple things in life—especially fishing, time spent around the water, and enjoying good seafood, with shrimp and flounder always being his favorites. He found joy in gathering with family, sharing meals, and creating memories with those he loved. He especially cherished time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness. Ted also valued his friendships and the many conversations, laughs, and moments shared over the years.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Swansboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Survivors include his daughter, Janie Carney of Hubert; his granddaughter, Bridgette Wickenheiser (Eric); and his great-grandchild, JT Wickenheiser, all of Charlotte. Nieces and nephews include Elizabeth Cole of Swansboro, Billy Jarman of Haleyville, AL, Benny Jarman (Linda) of Summerville, SC, and Debbie Jarman of Charleston, SC in addition to several great nieces and nephews.
