“Topsy” Bright

William Ray "Topsy" Bright, 77, died Wednesday December 23, 2015 at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
William was born in Onslow County on February 12, 1938 to the late Thelma Riggs and Furnie Bright.
Born William Ray, but known to most as Topsy, Bill or Daddy, was a friend to so many who knew him.
Preceded in dead by his wife of 48 years, Betty Lou Winberry and one son, Thomas Harold Bright, (Tommy). William leaves behind two daughters Jeannie Blackwell, and husband Danny of Trenton, Pam Turpin, and husband Tom of Hubert. In addition, two step-children, Amanda Mercer, and husband Jr, and Joey Bright of Pollocksville. Four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. William was the oldest of five children, to include one brother Jack Bright, and wife Robin, three sisters, Gloria Collins, Lois Bertram, husband David and Ruby Bright all of Onslow county. Two sisters-in-law, Della Cannon, husband Bud, and Ruth Jones
William was a devoted husband to his wife of 8 wonderful years, Grace Taylor Bright.
Throughout Williams life he had many careers, and came in contact with so many people but his most treasured accomplishments were very simple, William loved his family and he loved God. William spent the better part of his life witnessing to anyone he could about his love for God and invited them to his church, Kellum Baptist of Jacksonville. William and Grace coordinated activities for the senior citizens at Kellum Baptist Church and on special occasions William would break out one of his harmonicas and play some of the old time hymns. With Grace by his side, for daddy life could not get any better.
The family will be receiving family and friends at the home, 1248 Kellum Loop Rd in Jacksonville.
Visitation will be held at Jones Funeral Home on Saturday, December 26 between 4-6 pm.
Funeral services will be at Kellum Baptist Church, 1167 Kellum Loop Rd, Jacksonville, at 2 pm Sunday December 27, followed by a graveside service at the Riggs Family cemetery.
