JACKSONVILLE  -  Zelda Janice Thomas, 86, of Jacksonville, left her earthly home and went peacefully to her heavenly home on November 13, 2024.

Mrs. Thomas was born on July 8, 1938, to the late Dewey Sexton and Ethel Kirby Sexton in Independence, Virginia.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus George Thomas; two daughters, Joanie Thomas and Laura Thomas Ramirez; two sisters, Dorothy Rodgers and Lois Opal Farmer; and one brother, Harold Sexton, Sr.

She is survived by her son, Danny Thomas (Evelyn) of Aberdeen, MD; two daughters, Shelby Bolster (Nelson) of Jacksonville and Linda Lee Patterson (Rick) of Riverview, FL; one adopted daughter, Ruth Sissy Sykes of Jacksonville; one sister, Phyllis Monk Campbell (Bud) of Conowingo, MD; many grandchildren who loved her dearly and will miss her, and her honorary family, The Waddells of Clayton, NC.

Her wishes to be reunited with her loved ones at Hartford Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen, MD will be honored.
