JACKSONVILLE- Beadie “Commander” Laura Holden, 84, died on February 12, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was born on April 1, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Melvin Fredrick Holden, Sr. and Laura Mary Rizzi Holden.
Beadie served as a Commander in the United States Navy, Nurse Corps and retired as a Nurse Anesthetist. She did volunteer work for the American Red Cross, Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Duplin County Home Care and Hospice, and North Carolina Senior Health Insurance Information Service.
She is survived by her brother, Melvin F. Holden, Jr. (Linda) of Maryland; nephews, Matthew Thomas Holden of Maryland and Mark Anthony Holden of Maryland; grand-nephew, Raphael Alexander Holden of Maryland; and very special friends, Ben and Mindy Whitney of Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Infant of Prague Catholic Church in Jacksonville, NC. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 PM at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery
