Christopher Meinhardt, 55, of Jacksonville, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 with his wife, daughters, and mother-in-law by his side after a short but courageous battle with RA-ILD.
Christopher was born on December 21, 1965, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Col. Harry P. Meinhardt and Mary W. Meinhardt. During his life, he served as a volunteer firefighter/EMT; delivered dogs to veterans with PTSD; assisted in setting up a Marine Corps Exchange in Iraq; served in his church, especially in the audio department; and brought lighting and sound to young people who performed Christian musicals and productions. He loved nothing more than fellowshipping with the cast and working with the team. He described it as an extremely tedious process, but truly a labor of love and joy to watch it all come together as students overcame their fears and brought spiritual messages to life.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa L Meinhardt; daughters, Kara Danao (Jeff) and Kelsey Gavin (Everett); siblings, Mary Eidman, Katrina Tiffany (Robert), Lise Meinhardt, Erika Meinhardt (John Parks), Carl Meinhardt (Sharon), Hans Meinhardt (Susan), 15 nieces and nephews, and many friends. He also left behind his mother-in-law, Jean LaFleur (who was his other mom), and brother-in-law, Brad LaFleur. Both were family to him.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of flowers, cards, and memorial contributions to Tunnel to Towers charity in Christopher’s remembrance at 2361 Hylan Blvd, Stanton Island, NY 10306 or at T2T.org. All are equally welcome and appreciated.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021 from 1-2 pm. A funeral service will follow at 2 pm. Both will be held at The Church at Onslow, 1351 Pony Farm Rd, Jacksonville. For florist deliveries, call 910-382-3206.
