Deborah “Sue” Doney, 72, of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully in her home on October 6th. There will be a homegoing service held at 11 a.m. at J.T. Kerr Memorial Baptist Church located at 150 L. P Willingham Parkway on October 22, with Reverend Preston L. Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Samuel A. Doney III, her mother, Ellen Williamson and two brothers, Danny Ross and Harold Quigley.
Sue is survived by her three daughters; Cynthia Nix and her husband, Joe; Ellen Mahler and her husband, Carl; Joanne Santiago and her husband, Raul all of Jacksonville. She is also survived by her brothers, Ruell Green of Jacksonville, Mickey Ross of Birmingham, Alabama; Victor Quigley, Jack Quigley, Larry Quigley and Bobby Quigley, all of Selma, Alabama; two sisters, Dora Ballance of Leesville, South Carolina and Carol Woodford of Jacksonville. Nine grandchildren, Scott Alexander, Krystal Wells, Amber Santiago, Victoria Santiago, Gabriel Santiago, Brittany Cordero, Carl Mahler III, Devon Riquelme, Kailey Nix and 10 great grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.
Sue was a MaryKay consultant for over 30 years. When she was younger she enjoyed bowling, dancing and karaoke. Sue had been an active member in her church, singing in the choir, working with the publishing committee and helping in the food pantry. Over the last few years she also enjoyed doing the fashion shows for the Ida Mae Center.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home on October 21st.
