Gwendolyn Loumina Longcrier

HOLLY RIDGE – Gwendolyn Vereen Longcrier, 80, was born on May 2, 1941 in Wilmington and passed away on April 27, 2022 in Hampstead, NC.  A memorial service will be held to honor her life on Friday, May 6th, 2022 at 11:00am at Providence Baptist Church in Holly Ridge with Rev. Preston Wells officiating.
 
Gwen was a remarkable lady that will be fondly remembered and loved by many. She was born and raised on the coast. She was well regarded in her youth and known to be a talented athlete, comedian, and pianist. As a young adult, she moved to Raleigh spending much of her life in the Capital City working in the medical field, volunteering, and raising her family. She retired back to the coast in her later years enjoying her life surrounded by family, friends, and fishing.

Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Marcus Longcrier, her parents Robert Ellis Hines and Roxie Mae Hines, and one sister, Carolyn Hines Edwards.
 
Gwen is survived by two daughters; Pamela Myshell Jewell and her husband, Brian Getz of West Mifflin, PA, and Rebecca Leigh Farrell of Apex, NC; two sisters, Shelia Hines Wilson of Concord and Susie Hines Ritter of Holly Ridge; one brother, William Eastman Vereen and his wife, Sina Vereen of Sneads Ferry; her three beloved grandchildren, Sarah Jordan Justice, Payton Alexander Farrell, and Chandler Reese Farrell; five nieces, Jessica Wilson, Lynsi Wilson Waddill, Yvonne Ritter Mims, Angie Ritter Ottaway, Vikki Melton Brunk; one nephew, Robert Lavern Melton.
