SNEADS FERRY- Jay Hill of Sneads Ferry died unexpectedly in a car accident on Wednesday night, June 2, 2021. Jay was a long time resident of the Sneads Ferry community and had a deep love for the water, his family, his friends and his dogs. His favorite place to be was in his boat with his dog and those he loved. Jay also had a deep appreciation for the United States Marine Corps and their families. He served for many years as the Director of the Marine Corp and Family Programs at MCAS New River. He was a member of Sneads Ferry Presbyterian Church and at one time served as an usher, a Sunday School teacher and in various other ministries. Jay has made a long lasting impact on the lives of so many through his friendship, mentorship and leadership at work, church and in his personal life. And his genuine love to serve and give to others lives on through his choice to be an organ donor.
Jay is preceeded in death by his loving parents Rodolph and Dorothy Hill. He is survived in life and will be missed greatly by: Barbara Hill, his wife of 23 years, her daughter Blair Outlaw, her son Collin Outlaw, and her granddaughter Riley Outlaw; his sister and brother-in-law, Jackie Hill Wood and Bruce Wood; his nephew, Richard Wood; his niece Stephanie Acree and her husband, Joshua Acree and children, Naomi, Samuel, and John. He will also be greatly missed by his dog, River, his life-long friends, Gig and Scotty Everett, his staff family at MCAS New River and many other close friends.
Though many knew and loved Jay, due to Covid 19, there will be no public memorial service. The family will have a private service together to commemorate his life.
